‹Zusammenarbeit im Wettbewerb› ist das Thema des Wettbewerbslabors 2025. Arbeitsgruppen werden die Inhalte für das Labor vorbereiten. Wer mitarbeiten will, kann sich jetzt melden.

Die Themen für das Wettbewerbslabor am 5. September 2025 stehen fest. Anfang des Jahres werden fünf Arbeitsgruppen ihre Arbeit aufnehmen, deren «ungefähre Hauptrichtung» wir festgelegt haben. Die Stichworte lauten:

‹Phase Null›
Die erste Arbeitsgruppe leistet Grundlagenarbeit: Welche Grundlagen sind für einen erfolgreichen Wettbewerb notwendig? Und welche sind überflüssig? Könnten die teilnehmenden Teams ihre Grundlagen auch kollaborativ erarbeiten? Eine Gruppe für Freidenker*innen.

‹Mehr Dialog›
Die zweite Arbeitsgruppe sieht sich mit der Forderung nach mehr Dialog konfrontiert. Der Anspruch kommt aus der Ecke der Bauherrschaften, die ihr Gegenüber kennenlernen wollen. Viele Architekt*innen beschweren sich: Das Dialogverfahren braucht es nicht und ist nur mit Mehraufwand verbunden. Die Gruppe wird Position beziehen müssen.

‹Die Liste›
Wie sollen Jurys in Zukunft zusammengesetzt sein? Damit beschäftigt sich die dritte Arbeitsgruppe. Ihr Ziel: Jurys sollen diverser werden. Derzeit tauchen immer die gleichen Namen auf, und Frauen sind untervertreten. Die Gruppe ist aufgefordert, sich lautstark einzumischen und braucht eine wirksame Idee.

‹Fachplanungsaufwand›
Das Thema der vierten Arbeitsgruppe ist selbsterklärend, aber nicht minder wichtig: Wie viel Fachplanung verträgt ein Wettbewerb? Wie gehen Architekturbüros damit um, dass sie immer grössere Teams koordinieren müssen? Wie sehen das die Fachdisziplinen selbst? Die Gruppe pflegt den interdisziplinären Austausch, hinterfragt ihn aber auch kritisch.

‹Kooperation statt Konkurrenz›
Schliesslich gibt es eine ‹Störgruppe›, die den Wettbewerb daraufhin untersucht, wie viele Gewinner*innen und Verlierer*innen er tatsächlich hervorbringt. Die Gruppe will den Wettbewerb überwinden.

The world of construction is becoming more complex. The following applies to the competition: reduce to the max! More open procedures, a gradual reduction in the number of participants and an adjusted effort only in the more in-depth round, more opportunities for young talent and a return to public juries. A stronger focus on high-quality procedures in suburban and rural areas, clever preparation for more innovative approaches and planner selection procedures as a training ground for young architects...
One thing is certain: it is worth fighting for it, promoting it and regularly putting it to the test - the open competition!

Access to the competition - an event organised by the Planning Competitions Research Foundation

As part of the exhibition "Competitions City and Canton of Zurich 2022-2024" at ZAZ Bellerive (06.09.2024 to 08.12.2024), the Stiftung Forschung Planungswettbewerbe is organising an evening with interesting discussions!

What about equal rights for architects and landscape architects or equal opportunities between younger and older generations? What effort, which types of procedures are suitable for which building and planning projects? What developments in the industry are influencing competition? And where is competition heading in the future?

We will discuss these and other questions with the audience and our guests:
