TBO 2018 - Expected Tenders

In order to investigate the geological underground for a radioactive waste repository in Switzerland, Nagra (National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste, Wettingen, Switzerland) carries out site investigations such as seismic surveys. One important aspect for a sound investigation are boreholes. Besides shallow boreholes (so-called “Quartärbohrungen”) to investigate the topmost layer of Quaternary sediments, Nagra also plans to investigate the underlying formations such as the Mesozoic layers which include the targeted host rock (Opalinus Clay) for a future repository. These several hundred-metre-deep boreholes (so-called “Tiefbohrungen”) are the subject of a series of tenders. In order to give potential bidders an overview, Nagra decided to outline its plans, which may be subject to changes.
